Thank you Beth, Karen, Emma and everyone else involved - news of the plight of this of us with M.E is definitely breaking out of the M.E bubble and bursting into the world in a way it never has before.
However, whilst we need funds for research for future treatments and a cure, we're behind you in your mission to make the NHS aware of the difference they can make NOW. The days of doctors simply throwing up their hands and saying "There's nothing we can do" need to come to an end, because that statement isn't true. There's lots they CAN do.
Early diagnosis and intervention can prevent deterioration and improve outcome. The successful work of clinics such as Røysumtunet in Norway, Dr Kane's Long Covid Clinic, and the Bateman Horne Centre in the USA need to be evaluated and clinics commissioned across the UK.
Next April it will be 50 years since I had glandular fever aged 18, which set me off on the slow downward spiral of M.E, culminating in being housebound after Covid in March 2020. There are many other stories far, far worse than mine. But, hope is building. Long may it continue until the day when a diagnosis of M.E isn't a life sentence filled with pain, dread and isolation.
